I don't recall just quite how, but I bumped into an AFA (American "Family" Association) article:
Homosexual Agenda
CBS Television Markets "Gay" Marriage to America
Gotta love the "homosexual agenda" classification they have it under, in which of course, they will write all things homosexuals even if that includes to stop discrimination against gays. But that's not the point of today.
Today's point is that the extreme christian fundamentalist right (note that I am being specific here, not just your average christian) continues to drum up that "homosexuality is a dangerous lifestyle."
To quote the article:
" ... We told the interviewer how I lived the "gay" lifestyle for over eleven years, sexually active with over 100 male partners -- many whom are dead today from AIDS.
Now happily married to Irene for over ten years, we clearly told the interviewer how homosexuality is a dangerous, destructive and unnatural lifestyle... "
You know this is something I don't quite understand. Maybe I am dissapointing gays everywhere because I am certainly not sexually active with over 10's of male partners (am I even sexually active right now?), don't have AIDS (I do have sleep apnea, diabetes and I am overweight though, although I have lost some weight) and umm I am not like wreaking havoc around me...
Hell, maybe I am not gay. I mean, if to be gay is to be all that then I guess I am not. I suppose that same sex attraction doesn't really count as much as these obvious dangerous practices of being homosexual (not).
It is simply baffling isn't it? That still today a group of people would still insist in equating homosexuality with a "lifestyle." Well to the cluless that believe this bull shit, let me say right now, there isn't such thing as much as there "is" a "heterosexual lifestyle." It's all different groups and different individuals, just like the rest of every single group I can think of on Earth.
You see, I am not even arguing at all if someone who now likes women and not men anymore can happen or not- I am sure he can speak for himself, just like I can speak for myself, thank you very much. The cross overs happen all the time from one side to the other and vice versa, so to me this is not big news. It also doesn't mean at all that just becuase some can now like women, then all gays can just switch. That would be akin to saying just because an athlete won the gold medal and broke a sprint record, now all of us humans can do the same. If you think so you are delusional.
But again, just to equate homosexuality with a lifestyle.. and oh I can think of so many examples that just break the tradition, which reminds me of my realtor and her wife (both lesbians) which have been together for eight years now in a happy union.
Which also reminds me: why is it that the issue that the right-wingies always present is with men? If not always, at least like 90%+? Oh wait, hold on, it certainly can't be that one of the biggest heterosexual sexual fantasies is to be with two lesbians in the same bed and have sex... that can't be ... right? It doesn't have to do anything with that right?
Damn hypocrites.
PS: If you are going to point out that the article is about equal air time on CBS and censorship, that's all fine and dandy except that it is sidestepping my point. I leave that arguing for another day. I believe in equal rights to everybody to say what they want as long as nobody is forcing any laws that tell individuals how to lead their own lives.
