Well the inspection was today and it all went pretty smooth. I met the sellers- they are actually moving to a house they bought which is being finished about 2-4 miles from the current location. You can tell basically they want more space as they got two kids which are in a single room, which in 3-4 years will grow up and start signing a declaration of independence.
Only a couple of things to check/fix but the whole thing seems fine. No major surprises so far.
A couple of comments: I wasn't sure the first realtor I got referenced was gay but now I am. So whoever referred to me at work, knew I was gay probably.. which makes sense.. and I guess I can even imagine who "hinted." It's all good though.
So from him as the first contact (e-mail, I never met him) I got referred to, two lesbians realtors. And the inspection was done by two lesbians recommended by them. And they were very nice/ pretty thorough.
(you must be wondering why I am bringing sexual orientation up, keep reading)
Well in my life my contact with lesbians (that I know of) has been a minimum. In college I knew a couple but not really know them all that well. I love in a way how one of the inpsectors seemed like "very secure of herself woman" :-) She still seemed like a woman, but definitively she seemed to know her stuff and now it well... but the non verbal communication was very assertive.
Nothing wrong with that, I found it actually pretty interesting. I have met some heterosexual women like that but they are definitively in the exception.
Couple of other pluses: With the windows closed the noise from the street nearby is pretty much nothing. Which is good, because I thougth I had heard more noise. The bicycle trail that goes for miles (and probably up to Valencia- the area I was looking at the first time) is just right there. It's like going 2-3 blocks and you are there. That's so kewl. And there's a Best Buy about 4-5 minutes driving :-)
The most weird observation to me in the inspection was the rail for the stairs to go to the loft area... apparently California safety codes changed so now if you build a new one, the bars have to be spaced apart more.. reason was that a little kid could get stuck with the space they have now... fun. I am going to make anybody visiting me with small kids sign a release before they come in :-) Anyway, looks like this is it, this is "da place."
I also woke up today at 9:26 am.. and I am supposed to be there by 10:00am so I think I did quite a record by arriving by 10:12.. (about 30 minutes driving). Considering I am right now south of Burbank that is not bad at all... I had to use some warp-8 technology though.
Pictures! We demands photographic evidence!
