I finally got today a stack of papers from the escrow company (intermediary that holds your money while it changes hands for a house/condo/etc.). I don't.. want to look at it all yet.. it's like a little bible.

Heh. Imagine my shock when the total paperwork in PR was like 2 pages. I was actually able to read the whole contract. In spanish.
The 'offer' was over the phone, no paperwork. The power of attorney (which I needed to be able to buy it from way over here in CA) was 2 pages. And the sales contract was two pages.
And the closing costs were... $500!
Taxes are about $100 a year! Thats less than
1/100 of what I pay here. Sigh.
