HOLY WOW MOTHA - ACK.
Sony has delivered what they promised at last year's E3 (except for those dead pixels everyone seems to be getting).
MY GOD what a machine. To even attempt to compare the power of this thing to a Nintendo DS show that you are either absolutely completely ignorant, or a fanboy. That doesn't make the DS useless, but man.
If you have any questions on this just check out WipeOut Pure (Ridge Racer will do particularly since it's out for the DS also).
Ridge Racer on the DS looks like a sad sad retro-Duke-Nukem-engine driven cartoon compared to what looks like movie-like graphics on the PSP.
Oh and Lumines is everthyng I thought it would be and more. A real acid trip. Score one more for Tetsuya Mitsuruyi- guy behind the *truly underrated and outstanding* REZ (you need to play this game if you never have!), Space Channel 5 1 & 2 and the SEGA Rally series (yes, SEGA Rally).
The PSP display makes those Windows portable media players look *REALLY SAD* in comparison. Just no contest. Yes, even the iPod photo display looks very sad next to this.
stop your drooling, sony fanboy!!!!

I'm sure the PSP is a nice piece of kit, but I discovered that just living in the world is more amazing than any game. I used to do nothing but games and cartoons, but now I find that the challenges and stories of the real world are more amazing and interesting than anything you could make up.
But most people don't pay any attention to the world or the people around them...

The world or the people around me are the greatest... I love chatting it up with Link, Kong and Samus, and don't mind driving my Ford GTO around Nurburgring and Laguna Seca, both in the same day. The best part of my day comes when I get into my spaceship, and destroy evil aliens while saving the world, AGAIN! Now there's some other world you say? I better check my teleport boxes... Must be missing something.
But seriously, the PSP is an amazing piece of hardware, but the concept of buying games and/or movies all over again is not very enticing. Sure it worked for GBA/SP, but the games AND the console were a lot cheaper. I'm not too sure Sony has a home run hit here...

I tried to buy one, but all I got was laughed at by Best Buy sales drones :)
I agree, though - how many versions of RR/Wipeout does Sony expect me to buy? (Answer: at least one more). I bought the original ($350) Playstation on the strength of those two games :)

Guys, there are also new games you know? If you haven't seen Lumines, YOU NEED TO PLAY THAT GAME. It's simply amazing. A Zen experience....

Actually, Jose, my life IS a lot more interesting than the stuff you described. It's a wild world out there if you choose to be a part of it.
A lot of people dream of being rock stars, but how many people actually try and do it?
A lot of people go to clubs, but how many people know the stories that go on behind the scenes?
A lot of people watch racing on TV, but how many people really take their cars out and test themselves against treacherous mountain roads?
A lot of people watch movies and TV shows with lesbians, transvestites, S&M dominatrix, bar room brawls, infidelity, twisted relationships, and wild costumes, but how many people go to places where that stuff really happens on a day to day basis?
I do, my friend. I do.
Believe me when I tell you... truth really is stranger than fiction. The stories I see unfolding around me every day are more interesting than anything in games or television or movies. You couldn't make this stuff up. And it's so much more interesting when you are a part of the action!
So, yeah. The PSP is probably an amazing piece of hardware. Probably the best thing ever. But I don't need it. I have a life now.

How very considerate of you to take a break from fucking supermodels and single-handedly saving the world in order to post here...

My point is that EVERYBODY can have a life that is far more interesting than TV or videogames if they bother to try.
I used to be into games and anime and all that shit. Then I had a crisis in my life that forced me to abandon all that... and I realized that the alternative is much, much better.
Seriously, get out and meet some people. Be in the world. Do some stuff. Go to some clubs. Try some things you've always wanted to do but never got around to. You'll be amazed...
