I just saw the movie this weekend. I am not talking about the one coming up but the very original. I watched it in preparation for the new. Wow, very impressive movie. It's amazing how much of the social critique they did back then (1971?) is still oh so fresh today. Very creative in its dialog and visuals too. Perhaps that's why it's a classic. It's truly a great movie. If it wasn't for the credits in those making the remake I would be afraid the remake was going to blow flying twinkies but I hope for something really good.
Highly recommended viewing.
PS: I am going to buy/watch "Closer" Roger Ebert was pleased with it greatly (I don't always agree with him), but when I read the reviews that put it from average to down I noticed there was a pattern of "the movie is too sophisticated in its dialog for its own good" which to me reads like "it's not the typidal Hollywood cinema-prostituted experience of mindless action, mindless visuals w/ special f/x we are used to so it sucks" kind of thing.
I am betting it's a superb movie.
