I am not a fan of Grand Theft Auto. I can see contrary to the reactionary knee jerk reactions that there is indeed a game besides the "shock value" and on that I will give it my respect. By now many have read on the hot coffee mod issue, so I won't repeat what you can read elsewhere. On this I really think Take Two's biggest mistake was to say the hackers added the content, they just didn't flip a switch.
Now as much as I respect Hillary Clinton in some respects, I really think that other than making Take Two put out a new version without the secret normally unlockable content, spending too much cash on this could be a problem.
I think The Inquirer has a good article, referencing yet another article on this which you care read here:
[ from the coffe mod author ] (<- I got this one wrong)
[ from Steven Johnson ]
"Dear Sen. Clinton: "I'm writing to commend you for calling for a $90-million study on the effects of video games on children, and in particular the courageous stand you have taken in recent weeks against the notorious "Grand Theft Auto" series. "I'd like to draw your attention to another game whose nonstop violence and hostility has captured the attention of millions of kids — a game that instills aggressive thoughts in the minds of its players, some of whom have gone on to commit real-world acts of violence and sexual assault after playing. "I'm talking, of course, about high school football."
Read the rest, it's interesting.
