There are few things that make you "move on" quicker than realizing that it's really not worth attacking yourself with self-guilt. There's no point, particularly when you realize that at the very end you really didn't seem to mean all that much anyway and that no matter what sins you committed you still deserve a certain level of respect, if only because you gave that it at that level too. So it's better to just grab the ball and go somewhere else, think somewhere else, feel somewhere else - no need to be kicked out of the house with it- I am grabbing it and moving somewhere else, on my own volition, because I really want to anyway. Recent events made me realize a couple of things on this end. This shouldn't mean that people on the other side of the tennis court are not great. He's still great.
I am moving on, but that doesn't mean I am not re-examining myself- oh no no, I have much work to do with myself. But at least some big weights have been lifted. Funny how things can be like you are walking on the surface of Jupiter one day, and in a few you are walking on the Earth's moon.
With that in mind I want to talk about something else in my next entry probably tonight or tomorrow. I want to talk about my experience buying the Olympus E-3- the high end of all current 4/3rd cameras and how I ended up hating it, and having to sell it losing $500 USD after 5-6 months of ownership. Didn't lose that much. A pity, it's a great camera, but the interface drove me nuts. And I like small. So ended up with the new e-420. More on that later.
Also got today the super duper nice class leading 7-14 (14-28 in 35) 4/3rds ultra wide angle lens. What a piece of glass. All sharp even with that. It was pricey, but receiving my first royalty check at work + nice words of "good job" made me finally remember that you only live once. Also my current photography teacher talked to me about her work and how having an ultra wide angle allowed her to capture some stuff in some places and that's all I needed to hear. I got it this morning.
It's not a straight foward lens.. I thought all would be perspective fine and dandy but turns out everything close is distorted like in those first person shooters with wide angle, in video games, so you have to shoot things that are really far to get that super duper "I got a bunch of stuff in this landscape shot" stuff. This is the first "super high grade" 4/3rds lens I buy. I may buy a 2nd later.
More on this when I get some shots. I'll probably go to Vasquez Rocks again with it.
